Patient Participation Group

Q. What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

A. A selection of patients and practice staff who meet at regular intervals to decide ways of making a positive contribution to the continual improvement of services and facilities offered by the practice to the patients and to encourage the voice of the patient population to be heard.

Q. Why do we need a PPG?

A. The NHS is moving from a doctor and hospital-centred service to a patient-centred service. Patients will increasingly be asked for their views and input so the NHS can change to serve them better and so that patients everywhere can be helped to learn how to use the services more effectively and efficiently.

Q. What does the PPG do at Farnham Road Practice?

A. It is a forum for patients to engage with the practice to provide constructive feedback and advice on the way the practice is run and the services it provides. The PPG is not a forum for complaints or personal grievances.

Q. Who can be a member?

A. Any adult patient registered with Farnham Road or Weekes Drive Surgery (i.e. the Farnham Road Practice). We need patients of all age groups so that the needs and preferences of all our patients are reflected.

Q. What would my commitment be?

A. To give your opinion, perhaps some time to help with projects for the benefit of other patients if needed and to attend the meetings (at least one per year).

Q. How often does it meet?

A. The PPG meets every other month, at different times of the day, on different days and at either of our surgery sites.

Q. What experience/ skills/ qualifications do members need?

A. No experience, skills or qualifications are necessary. If you are a patient and are prepared to share your views in a constructive way to help improve the practice then we would like you to join the PPG.

Q. How can I become a member?

A. Contact the Practice Manager on 01753 520917, by email or ask at reception.

Q. Do I have to become a PPG member to contribute?

A. No. We welcome ideas, thoughts and questions from all patients. Please contact the PPG on, 01753 520917 or write to the PPG, Farnham Road Surgery, 301 Farnham Road, Slough SL2 1HD
